Colin has been growing food organically for the past 15 years. He worked on a variety of small farms in the Midwest before moving to the west coast in 2003 to teach garden-based environmental education. Quickly realizing that Washington is the most beautiful state in the Union, Colin has been farming, teaching and designing landscapes ever since. He founded the Seattle Urban Farm Company in January of 2007 and still looks forward to planting potatoes every spring.
Brad’s interest in food production started in a small vegetable garden at the Homestead, an experiential living center at Denison University in Ohio. After graduating, he apprenticed on organic farms around Ohio for several years, then took a position as the CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) Manager for Village Acres Farm in Pennsylvania. He moved to Seattle in 2007 to help Colin start the Seattle Urban Farm Company, and he is still building urban farms to this day.
Hilary has been with the Seattle Urban Farm Company since 2010. She brings with her an educational background in landscape architecture and urban planning from the University of Washington. At SUFCo Hilary is our in-house graphic designer, photographer, marketing manager and leads the maintenance team. Hilary blends her design background and edible gardening expertise to create landscapes that are equally beautiful and productive.
Jessica joined SUFCo in 2012 to design urban farms for residences, schools, restaurants, and public spaces. Her work is informed by regularly digging into the soil while farming across the city and working with clients in educational gardening sessions. Jessica received her Masters of Landscape Architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design. On behalf of SUFCo, Jessica has presented at Living Future, American Institute of Architects, American Community Gardening Association, and Pecha Kucha.
During his 12-year career as a landscape architect, Craig has worked on a variety of projects and project types. Most recently Craig worked on the design and build of Heyday Farm on Bainbridge Island—a 30-acre working farm on three separate properties. In this work he applied his passion for local food, love of technology, tendency to be highly organized and background in design, project management, soil science and ecosystems.
At SUFCo, Skip is the Farm Manager at SUFCo's Urban Fringe Farm. During the fall and winter months, he is part of our skilled installation team and spends most of his time building urban farms all around the Seattle area. In 2012 Skip worked on a small mixed organic vegetable farm in Oakville, WA. This experience served as a crash course in all aspects of small scale farming in Western Washington and was a springboard into his current position.
At SUFCo, Roen leads our skilled installation team and spends most of his time building urban farms all around the Seattle area. Roen received his Masters in Landscape Architecture from the University of Washington.
At SUFCo, Ian leads our skilled and creative installation team.
Sarah is our Lead Maintenance Manager.
Anne-Marie is one of our talented Maintenance Managers. Anne-Marie loves growing food because "in the city and suburbs alike, it’s easy to forget our dependence on plants and the soil for our survival. I farm to remember this dependence; to stay connected to the food I eat and where it comes from. I farm from a place of deep affection for the land and for the sheer delight I experience in the year’s first beet sprouts gently unfolding in the sun."
Katie has been farming for more than five years on organic farms big and small. Her interest in farming and local food systems took her from Tacoma to Kenya, Italy, and Pennsylvania before she landed at SUFCO as the Urban Fringe Farm Assistant Manager.
Kristin has been a Landscape Architect for thirteen years, working on diverse projects throughout Western Washington. She approaches each project with a goal of creating spaces that become an integral part of people's lives, whether it is a space to grow food, for children to learn, for families to play or for friends to gather.
