At Seattle Urban Farm Company (SUFCo), we thrive on pioneering new ideas and empowering city dwellers to reap the rewards of urban food production. We believe that sustainable urban agriculture can promote healthy diets, environmental stewardship, stronger communities and improved quality of life. We hope that developing economically sound, city-based farming ventures will increase public awareness of agricultural issues and foster a greater appreciation of farmers everywhere.
An initial design process is essential to the success of every productive garden. A comprehensive site plan allows you to combine individual elements of your urban farm to create a cohesive, functional, and beautiful space. A garden design includes scaled drawings of the space, planting recommendations, material specifications and precise dimensions for garden elements such as: garden beds, pathways, trellises, irrigation, tool sheds, washing stations, greenhouses, and seating areas. Additional drawings including planting plans, grading plans and renderings can also be produced, as applicable to each project. Design budgets vary depending on the scale and complexity of the project.
Our team of expert landscape builders will translate your garden design from concept to reality. We create beautiful and functional spaces with sustainably sourced materials and pride ourselves on producing the highest quality, non-toxic garden structures possible. Structures are built from naturally rot-resistant woods, stone and other long-lasting materials. Our in-house builders construct most garden elements; while some specialty jobs (steel bed fabrication, large tree removal, etc) may be completed by our partner businesses. All of our installations are built to the highest standards to create beautiful, productive, safe, and ecological outdoor environments.
After garden construction is complete, we offer a range of garden maintenance services. Our experienced farm crew can stop by your garden on a weekly or bi-weekly basis throughout the season. We bring all of the vegetable transplants, seeds, trellises, organic fertilizers, organic pest control materials and tools necessary to keep your garden healthy and attractive. You are always welcome to join us during our visits if you’re interested in learning more about edible gardening. We keep you up to date on what is happening in your garden with emails and newsletters detailing what is ready for harvest, what is coming soon, and other pertinent information about the season.
